While spending some time on the coast of North Carolina we went exploring Brunswick County in search of St James homes for sale that we’d heard about. With its limited population, Brunswick County was officially founded 10 years before the Declaration of Independence was signed — it was christened after the old colonial port town in the county. Brunswick County is divided into six official townships, but there are many more villages and towns such as Belville, Holden Beach, and St. James.
We were quite taken with the still relatively new town of St. James. It was just incorporated in 1999. Sitting along the southeast coast of North Carolina it’s just a few miles from the old fishing village of Southport, NC and about 30 miles south of Wilmington, NC.
The St James homes for sale we found were located in growing communities nestled near some of most unique wetlands areas of the country. It’s a residential town, with a mixed population of about 3,200 young families and vibrantly active retirees who enjoy amenities like the 4-1/2 golf courses, many tennis courts, swimming pools, full service marina and beach club along the Oak Island sea shore.
We learned the residents are proud to be talented and active volunteers — from a volunteer Fire and EMS Department, to an award winning Service Club, and to all manner of community service opportunities throughout the Brunswick County area. We had a delightful weekend looking at St James homes for sale.
